About the Author

Hi, I'm Milena Thomas, and I write Quiet the Thunder to cover topics that do not belong on my other blogs, mostly stuff about marriage, economics and politics from a classical liberal point of view, and occasionally, baby poop (though not usually in the same post).

My other blogs are: Working the Voice (about the art and business of singing) and Art and Avarice (about the intersection of the arts and economics). I am a musician, mother, wife, professor, and researcher. I love to bake, read, write, hang out with my dogs, and work out with my new PS3 video game and I blog about all that too.

All opinions expressed here are entirely my own, and may or may not represent those of my employer and/or anyone I knows.

Here are some of my most popular (or hated) blog posts:

I'm very interested in answering questions about economics for those who have a tough time understanding what the heck is going on these days, so leave a comment or email me if you have any. I'm also up for rational, even-handed debate on everything I write on this blog. So if you have something to say or you think I'm wrong, let me know.

You are free to contact me via the following handy-dandy form. But it may take a a while to hear back from me!

  1. I'm honored that you read the Chronicle blog and that smart, insightful, funny young women--with you as their poster child, of course--find my stuff at Brainstorm entertaining, useful, intriguing, or simply fun fodder for your own work. Hats off to you, Milena, and I look forward to reading more of YOUR work.

    Cheers and applause,
    Gina Barreca

  2. What a great thing you have here. I've spent the better part of my morning reading through your posts and resulting comments. What was wrong with the mean commentor? I happened to like the bike riding post. Anyhow, while I should be on the hunt or working on my freelance projects, I wanted to take the time to let you know that I've thoroughly enjoyed Shouting to Quiet the Thunder. If you don't mind, I'm going to continue to read it. It'll be a nice replacement to the newly found Mr. Mom job I have....... Keep up the great writing!
